Hi our adventurous friends,
July 1st Canada celebrated its 150 birthday and the whole country celebrated it with great events, parties and big fireworks. Around the city in Calgary there were several events during the day and some concerts in the evening. If you are interested about how we celebrated Canada Day, keep reading:
We started our day going Downtown. There were several small and big events happening in and around the city. There was a free pancake breakfast, live music and entertainment, children’s crafts and petting zoo, food trucks, the ENMAX Living Flag and much more.
We made our way to the Olympic Plaza, where many people gathered to listen to various music artist performing at the stage. The weather was beautiful and everyone was dressed in red and white and showing their love to Canada with some flags.
We saw some local artists, musicians and street artists performing around the city. We even did a live stream on our Instagram where our followers joined us on exploring downtown. Make sure to follow us on Instagram so you can be part of it next time too.
As the weather forecast changed and there was a thundershower warning we went back home to relax for a bit and made plans for the evening. We called some friends and went together to 17th Ave where you can find many bars, restaurants and local shops. We went to Cleaver one of our favorite restaurants. We had some delicious sliders and cocktails.
Afterwards, we had to rush to Riverfront ; 13 blocks away; to be able to watch the fireworks at 11.10pm. We made it just in time and all the roads were full of people starring up the sky and watching the finality of the Canada Day festivities. We had a really beautiful Canada 150 Day.
