I don't know about you but we can't stop thinking about that summer is going to end soon and we will have to deal with snow and cold again. That's why we should enjoy being outside as much as we can. With that said we created a list of five places/ events that you should check out in Calgary this summer with your loved one. Let the romance flourish!
1. Movies at the Meadows
At Spruce Meadows you can watch now movies outdoors on a large screen. From July 19 through August 23 every Wednesday (if the weather allows it) they show movies like "Beauty and the Best" and "Guardians of the Galaxy 2". How awesome is that! Bring a chair, blankets and friends and enjoy a movie under the stars! It wouldn't be a movie night without food so that's why they also offer Popcorn, movie treats and meals. Buy tickets online for only $15/carload or $20/Carload at the door.
2. Shakespeare by the Bow
If you love going to the theater but don't want to spend a beautiful evening inside, then you this is definitely something for you. This year Theatre Calgary is presenting As You Like It as this season’s Shakespeare by the Bow production. You can see the play at Prince's Island Park from June 20 - August 27, 2017. The best is you can come and go whenever you please and the 90min play is for FREE, however they appreciate a small donation. Also River Café offers Picnic Baskets filled with seasonal specialties from their kitchen and bakery. How romantic! For the play schedule click here.
3. Music in the Plaza
Every Wednesday evening (6:00pm - 8:00pm) throughout July 5 - August 30, 2017, the Heritage Town Square will offer FREE concerts with a diverse range of musical styles. The concerts will take place before the Park gate in the Engineered Air Bandstand. If raining, concerts will be held in Gasoline Alley Museum. You can bring a blanket, pack a picnic or dine on the patio of the Selkirk Grille while enjoying two hours of live music. Heritage Park’s Railway Café will also be offering a variety of sandwiches, bakery items and drinks. Go on their site to see who's playing when.
4. Events and Festivals
Throughout the summer Calgary has several festivals going on in the city, like the Fiestaval Latin Festival. It is a 3-day free multicultural arts and entertainment festival highlighting the Latin American Culture. Other upcoming events are the Calgary Folk Music Festival and the GlobalFest. There are many more and something for everyone.
Milky Way Nights are special evenings at the Rothney Astrophysical observatory dedicated to observing the night sky. You will have the opportunity to look through the telescopes, and astronomers will be on hand to answer questions. This event is for FREE but a donation to the Rothney Astrophysical Observatory educational programming is welcomed. The next evenings are Friday July 21 (10 p.m. - 2 a.m.) and Saturday July 22 (10 p.m. - 2 a.m.).
