Hi our adventurous friends,
we took an afternoon to go and explore Inglewood, which is a neighborhood in central Calgary. It's centered on 9th Avenue SE, several blocks east of the Elbow River and downtown, so perfect for a nice walk. Inglewood promotes an arts and culture-filled district with more than 100 shops, boutiques and eateries. Here is our list of five places to check out in Inglewood.
This cute shop offers a selection of terrariums, indoor gardening and landscaping supplies, natural artwork, functional vintage goods and much more. They also provide workshops in their shop. From bee house building to terrarium making, each workshop is hands-on and you can keep what you created. It's such a beautiful and relaxing atmosphere in the store and there is so much to explore. Our favorite were the unique vessels and plant holders. Absolutely gorgeous!
2. 28 Blankets
When you step in the store it feels like you're entering Marrakesh, Scotland and California all at the same time. Whether you are looking for a handmade artisan basket from Ghana, an authentic plaid from Scotland, alpaca mittens from Peru, or a beeswax candle from Canada, they have you covered. The also offer workshops where you can learn how to weave, create a striking plant hanger and many more creative things. We personally love the handmade babouche slippers from Morocco, which they have in a variety of colors.
3. Madison's 1212
If you need a break from all the shopping then stop by at Madison's 1212. It's a community focused and community funded restaurant located in the heart of Inglewood. It's located beside the iconic Recordland with a beautiful south facing patio and modern interior. They offer outlets and high powered internet so you can have a healthy salads, poke bowls, and nachos and enjoy working or studying at the same time. In the evening they offer some hand picked wine, hand crafted approachable and affordable cocktails and beer from amazing local breweries. We absolutely fell in love with their patio and will have to come back in the evening.
4. Purr Clothing
This store carries a mix of casual street wear and beautiful designer pieces. Available women's lines include Free People, Sessun and Movint, while men can choose from lines like Brixton, Publish and Levi's. The Inglewood store also carries clothes for kids. They also have a variety of accessories like jewelry, phone cases and sunglasses. At the moment all their sunglasses are on sale for $20. You can't just get one.
5. Adorn Boutique
This store is something else. They have a beautiful selection of feminine apparel and accessories from a variety of Australian, North American and European designers. This little boutique could literally be in Paris. If you're a fan of tulle skirts or need some jewelry for a big event or even a wedding then check out this store. The staff is super friendly and will help you with anything you're looking for.
There are of course other amazing, unique and cool shops that didn't make it on our personal favorite list, but it doesn't mean they're not worth to be checked out. Leave us a comment down below and let us know what your favorite Inglewood store is.
