Hello our adventurous friends,
we had the best getaway exploring the town of Canmore. We got invited to stay a night at the beautiful Grande Rockies Resort which is situated in the Bow Valley of the Canadian Rockies.
We arrived in Canmore Friday evening and had no problem finding our resort. Driving to the resort you get the total mountain feeling seeing the building surrounded by the Rockies. The resort is vast. It has 140 units; one - and two - bedroom condo-style suites, complete with full kitchens, spa-inspired bathrooms and designer décor & amenities in the main resort building. With a wide collection of contemporary mountain view guest rooms located in their separate annex building. Depending on your need and wishes there is a right accommodation for everyone.
Our suite came included with a full appliance packaged kitchen, one king size bed, double pull out sofa bed, one full bathroom with stand up spa shower, and in-suite laundry. Including within the unit were two TV's, FREE WiFi access, with many more lovely accessories, to make you feel at home in this lovely destination vacation. The suite was very welcoming in many ways, ready to take the stress from the work week away, with beautiful views of the Rockies from the balcony to the lovely cozy fireplace, Grande Rockies Resorts knows how to impress their guests.
Upon entering our room we got so excited to see a beautiful complimentary bottle of red wine and a note from the resort welcoming us.
We turned on the fireplace right away and checked out the rest of our suite. There was a kitchen with utensils and even a fridge. There was a coffee machine and tea bags you could use. What was very impressive was that our unit offered a complete shower/spa. This was particularly Poutine's favorite part of the unit for that the shower had an area to relax and sit with 6 massage jets, steam shower mode, as well as a normal shower head; and to top it off with the ability to listen to music while you relax.
The bedroom was small but cozy and big enough to fit in a king size bed. There is also a leather couch in the living room, where we enjoyed our wine while watching a movie later.
As it was dark outside we didn't go out on the patio but instead checked out the hotel amenities. We checked out the indoor pool and there was even a water slide and a kids pool. However, we decided to relax in the oversized indoor/outdoor hot tub. But if you wanted to get your sweat on prior to the water facilities we would highly recommend that you try out their fitness facility, with a wide variety of cardio equipment, to cable machines, and finished off with a respectable free weight section.
The evening was exceptional, the Grande Rockies Resort has a little bit of everything for everyone. The amenities are kept in order by wonderful staff, which are available to help you with any questions or concerns you may have. The suites are gorgeous and ready to help any guest relax in pure tranquility. We retired to our room later in the evening where we both dove into our island of a king sized bed and sunk into the pillowy softness of the bed to have a warm, cozy and restful slumber.
In the morning, we made our way to the resort restaurant called the "Habitat", located next to the resort's entrance. Since it was really early we were the only guests there at that time and enjoyed a calm and relaxing atmosphere.
We were greeted by our host who seated us by the best view of the mountains to watch the sun slowly peak over the mountain tops. We didn't have to wait long to see the gorgeous spectacle while having our first sips of coffee. Truly breathtaking to see the sunrise so close to the Rockies; it is quite unbelievable that living in Calgary there is so much to offer just in the city's backyard. It was just the perfect way to start our adventure in Canmore.
Once, the food came we were amazed on how big the portions were and how delicious everything tasted. Having to rush to our next adventure in the morning we thanked the service in the restaurant and returned to our room to pack up and prepare ourselves for what was next.
